I’m an ordinary citizen of Malaysia. I’m also a Christian. I’m trying to figure out how both of these relate. But more than that, I know it’s important to relate to people around me who live in the same country, and may have similar concerns but often find ourselves coming to various issues with multiple views and proposed answers. Getting stuck in the realm of ideas doesn’t interest me as much as a good conversation with another person.
I think what’s important is that we make effort to hear each other out, try our best to understand the matters at hand, always ready to go beyond tolerance to genuine respect, and somehow commit to work towards the future together. The fact is I don’t represent all Christians, I am but one voice. Hopefully, it’s a voice which will emerge from the noise with something helpful and useful for us to talk further.
